Deal Or No Deal
Deal or No Deal has in last few years become an international hit, with over 50 different versions of the show including United States, United Kingdom and even Vietnam. Each version of the show brings their own unique ideas to the show but still maintain the general format.
The game starts with a contestant who is selected randomly at the beginning of the show, a banker (in some version is unseen) and the host who will present the show and act as the go between the banker and the contestant. The game involves the contestant opening a number of briefcases which all have a different prize (cash in some). The contents of each briefcase are known prior to the game starting but where the prizes are not. The values of each content are indicated on a label or card which is inside the case.
At the beginning of the game, the contestant can choose a case, which will remain unopened till the end of the game.
The contestant will then start to choose each of the remaining cases to remove from the game, each of the contents will be revealed. By a process of elimination the amounts which are displayed cannot be in the players case. Once a number of cases have been opened, the banker will make the contestant an offer of either cash or prizes to quit the game. This offer is usually based on the amount left in the game, and the contestant's attitude. The player then get the important question to answer:
Deal – Contestant accept the dealers offer and ends the game
No Deal – Contestant rejects the dealer offer, and continues the game
This process is repeated through out the game until the contestant accepts an offer from the dealer, dealer makes no more offers or when all unselected briefcases have been revealed. The contestant then walks away with either the value of the dealer taken or of no deal was taken the contents of the briefcase they own.
If the game ends early, when the contestant takes a deal, the game is continued to find how much the contestant could have won. The contestant would then be able to see of they made a good deal or not, if they could have won more money.
As the numbers are known prior to the game starting the bankers offer will change depending on which of the numbers have already been eliminated. To make the game more exciting and lengthen the game the offer made particularly at the beginning of the game are lower then what is left in the cases. The bankers uses probability theory to help decide the values. As the game nears the end the value offered by the banker can be more or equal to what is left in play.
